Education
Purpose: Awareness - Involvement - Commitment
CAC Foundation works with targeted groups to build a "culture of spay/neuter" and responsible pet ownership:
- Through civic groups and service clubs
- Through public seminars and county governmental agencies
- Through local veterinarians and the NC State University College of Veterinary Medicine
CAC has partnered with the North Carolina State University College of Veterinary Medicine for community outreach and education. Availablity of spay neuter at the Spay Neuter Veterinary Clinic of the Sandhills allows animal control facitlities an opportunity to alter the current social environment that contributes to the use of euthanasia.
Best alternative to euthanasia:
- Support the Spay Neuter Veterinary Clinic of the Sandhills through contribution to the Companion Animal Clinic of the Sandhills Foundation to subsidize the difference between the service fee and the "real" costs of the spay neuter operation
- Provide an alternative to the costly spay neuter operation for individuals that cannot afford a private veterinarian
- Provide spay neuter at a reduced fee to animal welfare groups to reduce intake to county facilities; thereby reduce the need for euthanasia
